Shaft grounding is one of the necessary actions to be provided during the operation of different types of motors and generators. Grounding brushes eliminate bearing currents that can lead to the formation of small pits, grooves, and serrations on the contact points of bearings. A damaged surface on the contact points of bearings will lead to increased wear and shortened service life. Therefore, grounding brushes protect bearings from damages and wind turbines from unnecessary downtime and costly repairs.
1690-CO copper-graphite brush material is specially designed for Vestas turbines. It is beneficial for grounding, because of high electrical conductivity which is essential for grounding applications. Low friction properties provide an extremely long service life. 1690-CO brush outperforms all other grounding brushes of the same type available on the market due to a unique combination of high conductivity and low friction.
